Car history:
When was the last time you saw one of these in person? Sure, they show up on the internet every now and then and folks try to get a FORTUNE out of them. Not this time. This is one nice 1978 Chevrolet Corvette and you can own it and have it brought to your door for far less. Before I move on, I want to spend a minute and tell you a few things that make this car special. None of this will be new to folks who know Corvettes but for those who are just learning, let me point out a few things. First, it is a 1978 model. It was a first year for the new body style as 1977 still had the inset rear window. This is the rare Indianapolis 500 Pace Car. They were limited editions and all were numbered. I have seen and driven a million vintage cars in my life and each one is different. This one is NOT restored but rather an unmolested original that has been kept in great condition. I cannot take credit for it's shape. It was in this condition when we got it at a specialty sports car auction. This is an nice car in every regard. The paint is bright, the body clean and the interior is nice. I try to cover each in detail below.

The exterior of this beauty is very nice. I will not say perfect as someone will find some small place that I missed so we'll just say nice. I am not presenting this car as a perfect, restored car. It is a clean original and therefor, it may have slight imperfections that an original would have. There is ABSOLUTELTY no major issues with the car! It is a highly glossed two-tone black and silver accented by all of the correct, original Indy 500 Pace Car emblems. There is no damage anywhere on the entire car. The paint is clean and the emblems great.. There is no evidence of ever having previous damage. The only issue, and it is minor, that I saw was the paint on the edge of the hood and the edge of the deck was very slightly hazed. I suspect that is has been a little since it was waxed and that when we detail it, all of that will be gone. This is VERY, VERY minor and does not detract from the car. Most people would not even see it but, again, I want to be 100% honest with these cars. I am not saying that the paint is all foggy. That is NOT the case here. Just very light, very minor hazing on a small section, not the entire car or even the entire area mentioned. The chrome is all in good condition. The car also has good rubber seals throughout. The door, hood and trunk jambs are in nice shape and I have extra photos of them, if you need them. It has a stock 350 small block motor with matching numbers. The frame is clean and has no rust. I also have photos of that, if needed. I can only put 24 pics on eBay so if you want more, I will have to send them to you. The car has the correct Corvette wheels with matching center caps and BF Goodrich Radial TA white letter tires, both of which give it a great look. No matter how much I looked at it, I could not find much to complain about. Anyone that knows Corvettes will understand the quirks that they all have but there is NOTHING on this one that causes it a problem. The wipers work as they should, the headlights go up and down in sync, the AC is cold, in fact, we just put a new compressor on it, the power antenna works, the power windows go up and down so fast that they will cut your head off and that in itself is rare! Even the power locks work. I tested everything on the car and each item worked as it should.

On to the interior. The interior is platinum or silver and accents the black and silver paint nicely. The carpet is original and is nice. The carpet is the only thing on the car that I had issue with. It is not bad, mind you, but the rest of the interior is far better. It appears that the seats have been redone sometime in the past as they are very nice, as is the dash and even the carpet in the rear cargo area. The front carpet is slightly faded and shows a little wear where the rest of the interior, including the door panels, is nice. The car has an original AM/FM stereo and yes, it works. I do want to say that the seats are exceptionally comfortable. Firm but soft and easy to enjoy. The door panels are covered to match the seats. Again, every single item in this car works. Power windows, locks, cruise control, AC and heat, stereo, tilt steering manual remote mirrors. The car also has the correct mirrored T-tops and they are in great shape with no damage. They DO NOT leak!

And now for the mechanics. Ths car has enough power to scare your friends! It is the original 350 small block engine. It is connected to a 400 turbo automatic transmission. The trans has been rebuilt and operates flawlessly with a slight shift kit in it. I cannot say if the engine has been rebuilt or not as I have no way of knowing. We had the trans done so that one I am certain about. It does run and performs well. The engine runs cool, has great oil pressure and no internal noise. The trans shifts well and grabs as it should. It shifts extremely well with no slipping. The car also has disc brakes front and rear. This car has only 73,200 original miles. I have to add that this car drives wonderfully. It is smooth, quick and responsive. It is much better than most vintage Corvettes I have driven in the past. The engine runs like it is brand new and there are no leaks or problems of any kind. The car is beautiful and ready for you to enjoy!
